Jean-Philippe Mateta admitted that the feeling of winning the match was truly wonderful.

Jean-Philippe Mateta could hardly contain his excitement after helping Crystal Palace lift the 2026 UEFA Cup trophy. The French striker relied on his keen finishing ability to secure a crucial goal and lead his team to a historic victory.

The final against Rayo Vallecano was very close, but Crystal Palace took the lead early in the second half. Adam Walton's attack created a threat but was saved by the goalkeeper, and then Jean-Philippe Mateta seized the opportunity to score the only goal of the game on the rebound.

With this crucial goal and the team's united and tenacious defense, Crystal Palace became the first team since 1979 to win the European title in their debut competition.

After the final whistle blew, Jean-Philippe Mateta couldn't hide his excitement in an interview, saying, "It feels so good! So so good! Now I just want to celebrate, I just want to go party!"

“It’s an incredible feeling, we gave it our all. I warned before that Rayo Vallecano would bring a high level of intensity. I’m very tired now, I’ve used up all my energy. Jürgen Strand Larsen came on as a substitute and gave it his all, which is why we won the game.”

"As I said, I always stand with the fans. They have given us continuous support, both personally and as a team, and have always stood behind us. Everything we do is to give back to them."
