Official: Newcastle United extend contract of 20-year-old starlet Lewis Miley until 2032

Newcastle United announced on Monday that they have renewed the contract of Lewis Miley. The new contract extends the original 2029 expiry date by three years, until June 30, 2032.

The 20-year-old Miley primarily plays as a central midfielder, but can also play as an attacking midfielder and right-back. He began training at Newcastle United at the age of 7 and made his professional debut for the first team in the Premier League on May 28, 2023.

To date, Miley has made 80 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists. He was also a member of the Magpies' team that won the English League Cup in the 2024/25 season.

After completing the contract extension, Miley said: "I am very happy to sign the new contract and entrust my future to it. It is my dream to play for Newcastle United, so I feel incredibly proud at this moment."

“I sincerely thank everyone who has helped me get to where I am today, especially my family who have always supported me, and the club that has trusted me since I was a child.”

“This journey has been fantastic so far, and I’m excited for the future. I’m training hard every day now, striving to return to the court next season in a stronger form to repay everyone’s trust in me.”

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe added: "Lewis absolutely deserves a new contract. It's a recognition of his performance over the past few years and a testament to the growth potential we've all seen in him."

"He earned every opportunity through his own abilities and has proven that he is fully capable of performing at the highest level. A player like Lewis is a dream partner for coaches. He is not only exceptionally talented but also has a strong thirst for knowledge and a positive attitude towards everything."

"His versatility has proven to be a major advantage. His willingness to try new roles also reflects his selfless dedication to the team. I am very much looking forward to seeing Lewis return to the field next season and believe he will continue to improve in the future."
