Marco Bizot: Even though the team experienced ups and downs, we never lost confidence and always stuck to our football philosophy.

Aston Villa's away victory over Manchester City sealed the end of the 2025/26 season, with Marco Bizot describing the year as "unbelievable." The win at the Etihad Stadium helped Aston Villa secure fourth place in the Premier League with 65 points. Furthermore, it marked the team's first away win against Manchester City in nearly two decades and their first league double over Manchester City in more than sixty years.  

This all happened shortly after Aston Villa won the Europa League in Istanbul, their first major trophy in 30 years. Speaking about the week, the match, and the entire season, Marco Bizzott said: “I think this is a true reflection of our year. I joined the club at the perfect time, and what has happened this year has been truly incredible.”  

"The meaning of football lies in competing for championships, constantly pushing our own limits, and giving our all to win every game. This has always been our goal. I don't think we've ever lost confidence in ourselves, even when the team experienced fluctuations in form. We've always stuck to our philosophy, remained patient, and executed our plans, and the final result has proven that everything is moving in the right direction."  

Aston Villa staged a comeback against Manchester City away from home, with Ollie Watkins scoring two goals in the second half, bringing his season total to 21. The match featured a stark contrast between the first and second halves, and Aston Villa's strong second-half performance secured a successful season finale.  

Reflecting on the match, Marco Bizot said, "In the first half, we tried our best to play our own way, maintain our overall compactness, and minimize mistakes and conceding goals, which I think the team did very well. In the second half, we started to be more aggressive, scored quickly, and continued to apply pressure. The team remained calm and stuck to our tactics."  

"We also hope to approach the game and our opponents with a serious attitude. Although this week's preparations were a bit different from usual, it is ideal to win and finish the season in this way. From our first home game at the beginning of the season to our last away game with a victory, it has been a perfect experience. Finishing fourth in the league is also a satisfactory result for the club."
