Roma have officially announced the permanent signing of Aston Villa's loaned striker Malen and extended Hermoso's contract until 2027.

Roma officially announced on Tuesday that the buyout clause for Dutch striker Donyell Malen has been triggered. The two sides have also signed a four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.

Malen joined Roma on loan from Aston Villa in January and quickly became a mainstay of their attack. The 27-year-old has made 20 appearances for Roma in all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 3 assists.

Thanks to Malen's efficient performance since joining the team, Roma finished third in Serie A with a record of 23 wins, 4 draws, and 11 losses, accumulating 73 points. With Roma securing their Champions League spot for next season, the automatic buy-out clause in Malen's contract has also come into effect.

Multiple media outlets have confirmed that Malen's buyout fee is €25 million. Other reports indicate that Aston Villa will receive 10% of any potential second transfer fee.

Mario Hermoso

Along with confirming the permanent transfer of Malen, Roma also activated the contract extension option for Mario Hermoso. According to the official statement, Hermoso's contract will be extended from this summer until June 30, 2027.

Hermoso, 30, is an experienced Spanish center-back who joined Roma on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid in September 2024. To date, he has made 48 appearances for Roma, contributing 5 goals and 2 assists.
