Luis García Prasad: In the future, we need to adjust our mindset, while also facing the problems squarely and doing our best.

Sevilla head coach Luis García Praza recently appeared on the radio program "Libre y directo" for a roundtable discussion, where he reviewed and summarized the final stage of the 2025-2026 season.
Luis García Praza said: "Sevilla is a very great club with one of the best histories in Europe in recent years. I think we can definitely do better next season than this season and avoid getting stuck in the relegation zone, I'm serious. I turned down offers from some teams because I felt I couldn't help them. I hope the team won't be fighting relegation next season, but that won't be easy to achieve."
"The notion that some teams are 'without any ambition' is actually a misunderstanding of football. Atletico Madrid used Baena and Sollot in their away game and rotated their squad in the Valencia game, yet they still won. Many coaches' comments are often biased. For example, some people said we wouldn't get into trouble, but in the end we did. It's just part of the season."
“Seeing the players cry made me realize the soul of the team, something we must ignite. I’ve always believed that winning the first game is harder than winning the second, especially coming back from 0-2 down to 1-2. We gave it our all, and the loss in Pamplona actually ignited the fans’ emotions because they saw the team’s fighting spirit. If that game had been a draw, perhaps there wouldn’t have been the same atmosphere as the game against Real Sociedad. That day’s experience here can even be compared to a night in European competition.”
Speaking about the team's progress, Luis García Praza said, "The games against Villarreal and Real Sociedad were closest to my ideal style of play. I rarely used a five-defender system in the game against Atlético Madrid. But starting from the Osasuna game, we have gradually seen the direction we want to develop, although there are still many areas that need improvement."
Looking ahead to the next few seasons, Luis García Praza believes defense is key, saying, "We must reduce the number of goals we concede; it's hard to be competitive when we concede so many. We need to change our mentality, while also facing reality and giving our all. If the fans see a team with distinct characteristics and a willingness to fight, they will soon see higher goals again. I believe Sevilla will return to where it belongs."
“Although I am currently Sevilla’s head coach for next season, the contract does not guarantee that everything will continue. If the club needs to adjust its direction by bringing in new financial resources, then it is perfectly acceptable to do so. If this leads to my departure, I will also look for another job. I will let things take their course and just hope that things will become clear as soon as possible.”
“The situation is still pending and is beyond my control. I have expressed my thoughts to the sporting director and the president. I understand that I may not continue coaching if there are new investments or structural changes at the club. Many things are still uncertain. The team needs to make adjustments and rebuild stability, at least to make the final stage of the season easier. All changes must be made under the existing conditions.”
