Nottingham Forest have officially announced that they have extended the contract of Brazilian center-back Murillo. The new contract extends the original expiry date of 2029 by one year, until June 30, 2030.
The 23-year-old Murillo came through the Corinthians youth academy and transferred to Nottingham Forest in August 2023 for €12 million. To date, he has made 114 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists.
Before finalizing his contract extension, Murillo was considered one of Liverpool's summer targets to strengthen their defense. According to an exclusive report by TA chief reporter David Ornstein, the Reds are internally valued at between £70 million and £100 million.
In an official statement, Nottingham Forest's Global Technical Director, George Sirianos, also spoke highly of Murillo: "Murillo has been improving since joining the team and is now one of the best players in his position."
“He is a key player for us and is grateful for the care and support he has received from Nottingham Forest and everyone at the club. We are delighted that he has extended his contract for another year. This extension is both a reward for his continued contributions to the team and a reflection of the club’s ambition to continue growing.”
Murillo himself said: "This is my second contract renewal with the club, and I am very happy. This is a dream come true, and it means a lot to me personally, to my family, and to my career. This contract renewal reflects my importance to the club and shows everyone's trust in me."
"I also want to thank the fans. They mean a lot to me and are crucial to the team, and I am very proud of that."
