Unai Emery has confirmed that Martinez will miss the match against Tottenham.

Aston Villa are about to face Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the FA Cup, but manager Unai Emery has brought bad news: goalkeeper and defensive linchpin Emiliano Martinez has been confirmed to be out injured.

Martinez suffered an injury in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and was substituted at halftime. Emery confirmed that the World Cup-winning goalkeeper will miss Saturday afternoon's crucial match in London.

Besides the goalkeeper position, Aston Villa's midfield is also unavailable, with Amadou Onana and Ross Barkley still recovering from injuries. In attack, Evan Guessan, currently representing Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, is also unavailable.

Amid a slump in injuries, Aston Villa's 19-year-old signing Alysson, brought in in January, has become the only bright spot. Despite suffering a minor injury, the newcomer returned to full training on Friday.

Emery said: "We hope he can integrate into the team as soon as possible, not only on the pitch, but also in daily meetings and meals. If his training condition is ideal, he will travel with the team to London to play against Tottenham."
