Hoffenheim announced on Tuesday that they have extended the contract of 26-year-old Turkish center-back Ozan Kabak. The club has not yet disclosed the specific length of the extension or other details.
According to Kicker magazine, Kabak's new contract will extend from June this year to 2030. The agreement also includes a €25 million release clause, which could become effective as early as June 2027.
Kabak developed through Galatasaray's youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in the Turkish Super League on May 12, 2018. He later played for Stuttgart, Schalke 04, Liverpool, and Norwich City, making a total of 4 appearances in the Champions League, 20 in the Premier League, and 55 in the Bundesliga.
In July 2022, Kabak transferred from Schalke to Hoffenheim for €7 million. Despite missing more than 400 days due to a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee, he has still made 84 appearances for Hoffenheim, scoring 12 goals and providing 5 assists.
Regarding the contract extension, Hoffenheim's sporting director, Andreas Schickel, commented: "Despite receiving numerous offers, Ozan decided to stay at Hoffenheim. I am very pleased about this. His extension sends a strong signal."
“Ozan made a remarkable comeback after a serious injury and has once again proven himself to be a cornerstone of our team this season. He possesses all the qualities we need, including excellent one-on-one ability, physical strength, goal threat, and outstanding mental attributes.”
Kabak himself stated, "I feel right at home in Hoffenheim and see the potential to grow together with the club. Even during my long injury absence, Hoffenheim showed me tremendous trust and support. I look forward to continuing to be involved in the club's development and hope to work hand in hand with the club to achieve our ambitious goals."
