Champions League – Goals from Yamar and Ferran are not enough to save Atletico Madrid, who defeat Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate to advance to the semi-finals.

In the second leg of the 2025/26 Champions League quarter-finals, Atletico Madrid lost 1-2 at home to Barcelona. Nevertheless, they advanced to the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate score.

Shortly after the start of the match, Barcelona got off to a dream start due to an opponent's mistake: in the 4th minute, Clément Lenglet's back pass was intercepted, and Ferran Torres immediately assisted Ramin Yamal to score a one-on-one goal.

After Yamal opened the scoring, Barcelona continued to pressure Atletico Madrid's defense. In the 9th minute, Yamal again delivered a through ball that tore through the defense, and Dani Olmo's chip shot forced Juan Musso to make a crucial save. In the 24th minute, Olmo delivered another through ball, and Ferran followed up with a shot to score again.

In the 31st minute, Marcos Llorente broke down the right flank and delivered a cross, which Admora Lookman tapped in inside the box. His goal not only put Atletico Madrid ahead again but also made the aggregate score 3-2.

The second half began with both sides switching ends. In the 55th minute, Ferran Torres capitalized on a Lenglet clearance error to score on the rebound, but VAR intervened and disallowed the goal. Atletico Madrid, having escaped a close call, gradually regained their composure and even threatened Barcelona's defense from time to time: in the 74th minute, Robin Le Normand's shot was saved by Joan Garcia, and Llorente's subsequent follow-up shot was also easily collected by Garcia.

In the 77th minute, Eric Garcia fouled Alexander Thelot, who was in a one-on-one situation, and was sent off with a straight red card after a VAR review. Neither side managed to score again, and the final score was 1-2.
