Bournemouth officially announced on Thursday that they have loaned French midfielder Romain Fever to Auxerre for half a season this winter. He will wear the number 28 jersey at Auxerre, and the contract does not include a buy-out clause.
The 27-year-old Favre came through the Tours youth academy and made his professional debut for Monaco in the French League Cup on December 19, 2018. He then played for Brest, Lyon and Lorient, making a total of 4 Europa League appearances and 98 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring 21 goals and providing 14 assists.
In July 2023, Favre joined Bournemouth for a transfer fee of €15 million. To date, he has only made 6 appearances for Bournemouth, without scoring a goal or providing an assist.
Due to limited playing time, Favre has been loaned out to Lorient and Brest for the past two years to gain experience. Last summer, he was loaned to Breidai for a season, but still only made 5 appearances.
Earlier this month, Bournemouth recalled Favre from the Saudi league six months ahead of schedule. They had originally planned to loan him to Le Havre, but a disagreement arose between the two sides regarding salary sharing. Auxerre then intervened decisively and successfully snatched him from Le Havre.
For Auxerre, who are mired in the relegation zone, the arrival of Favre is a godsend. They are currently second to last in Ligue 1 with a record of 3 wins, 3 draws and 11 losses, accumulating 12 points, and are still 2 points away from the relegation line.
