The 2025/26 Ligue 1 season will enter its 18th round, with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain hosting Lille at the Parc des Princes. At the press conference, Enrique stated that the players are eager to get back on track and continue their steady progress in the league through victories.
In last week's French Super Cup final, Paris Saint-Germain equalized through goals from Dembele and Gonzalo Ramos in regular time, and ultimately defeated Marseille 4-1 on penalties to win the title. However, in the earlier French Cup Round of 32, Paris Saint-Germain was eliminated 0-1 by Paris FC, missing out on another title.
In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain is in second place with 39 points, one point behind Lens, who are in first place. They have won four and lost one of their last five matches.
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said, "After the loss, everyone wants to get back on track as soon as possible. We have analyzed the previous games, and we know that against Paris FC, we did everything we were supposed to do to win, but sometimes you just encounter a goalkeeper who can save almost every shot, that's football."
"The important thing now is to keep looking forward, and we will be facing one of the best teams in the league. The key is whether we can bring out all the elements of the game. When analyzing Lille, we saw that they performed very well in possession and off the ball, and their overall strength is very strong. We will be playing at home, which will be a good test to see how we respond after a loss, and we hope to put on a great performance."
Enrique pointed out, "After losing to a strong team, we knew it would be a tough match, as it is every time we play against them. We hope to win the game and continue our progress in the league."
“We knew from the beginning that one of the key focuses of this season was how to manage the physical recovery process. By February, we probably wouldn’t have had much time to deal with physical matters, but that’s what we’re used to. Of course, it’s easier when there are fewer games, but we’re used to this kind of tight schedule.”
In addition, Enrique said, "The most important thing now is to realize that we deserved to win the last game. We lost, and we accept the result, and wish Paris FC all the best in the upcoming games. However, I hope this defeat can be a motivation to inspire us to work harder in the league and the Champions League."
