RB Leipzig officially announced on Tuesday the signing of 27-year-old Nigerian winger Sani Suleyman from Trenching. The two sides signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.
According to Sky Sports Germany, the base fee for this transfer is €5 million. If add-ons are included, RB Leipzig could pay up to €6 million.
According to the official statement, Suleiman will wear the number 18 jersey at RB Leipzig.
Suleiman previously played for Vigí Travelers and Akva United before transferring to Slovakian powerhouse Trenčín in September 2024. To date, he has made 40 appearances for Trenčín, scoring 5 goals and providing 5 assists.
Regarding Suleiman's signing, RB Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer commented: "We have signed a very talented young winger, Sani Suleiman. He has promising potential and all the qualities needed to make a career breakthrough at RB Leipzig."
"Suleiman mainly plays as a left winger. He is extremely fast, has outstanding physical qualities, is not easily dispossessed by opponents, and is keen to use his speed to break through the opponent's defense. He is also very active off the ball, showing a good professional attitude."
"We completed our planned summer signings ahead of schedule and signed Suleiman on a permanent transfer. His arrival enhances the team's depth and tactical flexibility on the wings. We will give him ample time to adapt to the Bundesliga and look forward to working with him in the future."
Suleiman himself said: "Joining RB Leipzig was a huge leap for me, and I am very proud of it. I was very impressed with the way the club develops young players - they have a lot of trust in young players and provide them with targeted support."
“I am very much looking forward to learning and growing in this highly professional environment and giving my all for the team. The style of football here is a perfect fit for me, and I can’t wait to make my debut in the RB Leipzig jersey.”
