Newcastle United completes contract extension with Netherlands international centre-back Sven Botman..


Newcastle United announced on their official website on Tuesday that the club have extended the contract of its Netherlands international centre-back Sven Botman.


According to Newcastle United's official statement, Botman has signed on a new long-term four-and-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2030.


After completing his contract extension procedures, Botman, who was interviewed by the Newcastle United official website again, said: "I'm delighted to have signed this contract. This club has given me so much over the past three and a half years."


"I've developed here, both individually and as a player, and I feel I can contribute even more to the club in the long run. Therefore, both sides are very happy with this decision, and I look forward to my future here."


About Sven Botman


The 26-year-old Botman was born on January 12, 2000, in Badhoevedorp, Netherlands. He is 1.93 meters tall and plays as a centre-back.


Botman joined Ajax's youth academy at the age of nine and began playing for their reserve team in August 2018.


The following summer, Botman was loaned-out to Heerenveen, making his first-team debut that August. During his time there, he helped the club reach the quarterfinals of the KNVB Cup.


In July 2020, Botman joined Lille for €5 million.


During his two-year spell with Les Dogues, Botman helped the club achieve a surprise victories in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France title wins once each. His outstanding performances led the popular football game FIFA to list him as one of the wonderkids with the highest potential.


In July 2022, Botman joined Newcastle United for £35 million.


Since becoming a member of the Magpies, Botman has so far made 94 appearances for the new Premier League giants in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 7 assists, and has won the Carabao Cup once with the club.
