In the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final, Morocco hosted Cameroon. They ultimately won 2-0 thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz and Ismail Sebarri, advancing to the semi-finals.
As the host of this year's Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco played with increasing ease in this match. They also took the lead in the 26th minute: Achraf Hakimi took a corner kick from the right, and Ayoub Kabi headed the ball across for Brahim Diaz to tap it into the net.
Morocco launched a series of attacks afterward, but failed to extend their lead. In the 38th minute, Kabi intercepted the ball in the attacking third and passed it to the left wing. Abd Ezalozoli created space and curled a shot towards the near post, but it was brilliantly saved by Divis Mkoba. In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Ezalozoli broke into the left side of the penalty area and delivered a through ball, but Kabi's follow-up shot went just wide.
After the break, Morocco continued to dominate the game. In the 60th minute, Hakimi's corner kick from the right was headed over the bar by Ezalozoli at the near post. In the 62nd minute, Hakimi crossed from the right, and Nuhu Tolo's clearance nearly resulted in an own goal. Samuel Couto then cleared the ball off the line, preventing Ismail Sebarri's header from going in.
Morocco's relentless attack finally paid off in the 74th minute: Nayef Argylld delivered a free-kick cross from the right wing, and Sebarri, unmarked, slotted the ball home to seal the victory. At the final whistle, Morocco defeated five-time Africa Cup of Nations champions Cameroon 2-0, eliminating them from the tournament.
