Perkz announces retirement after 10 years of professional League of Legends career

Croatian League of Legends star player Perkz officially announced his retirement, ending his ten-year professional e-sports career.

At the age of 26, Perkz chose to bid farewell to the familiar arena and embrace the identity of becoming a father as a new stage of life approaches.

Perkz shared his retirement statement through social media and said frankly: "The second half of the year will usher in the tenth year of my professional career and a new chapter in my life. I will become a father, which means a lot to me."

"I have decided to retire from professional competition. Although 26 years old may sound young, it is not uncommon in the world of e-sports. The pressure, time allocation, and competition exhaustion, I no longer want to deal with these."

Perkz's career is legendary. After joining G2 Esports in 2015, he quickly became the most dazzling mid-lane core in the European division. From 2016 to 2017, he led G2 to win the EU LCS Spring and Summer double championships, and reached his peak in 2019.

Not only did Perkz win the LEC Spring Split, MSI Mid-Season Invitational, and LEC Summer Split, he also led the team to the World Championship Finals and won the world runner-up. He also showed his outstanding multi-position ability by transforming into an ADC and achieving good results that year.

In 2021, Perkz moved to North America, joined Cloud9 and won the LCS Spring Championship. After that, he returned to Europe and played for Team Vitality and Team Heretics. Although he failed to reproduce the glory of the G2 period, Perkz is still the representative of European mid lane in the hearts of many fans.

Earlier this year, Perkz made a brief comeback to participate in the NLC league, helping The Ruddy Sack reach the top six. But now, he has chosen to bid farewell to the professional arena completely.

Although he left the competitive scene, Perkz did not say goodbye to League of Legends completely: "I will focus on my family in the next few months, but I plan to return in some way to help the new generation of players who are eager to grow."
