Liverpool tied Nottingham Forest 1-1. The goal was scored by Diogo Jota. He admitted that although he was happy with the goal, the team was more eager to win the game and get 3 points.
Nottingham Forest scored in the 8th minute of the game and took the lead 1-0. However, it was not until the 66th minute of the second half that Jota scored a header to help Liverpool equalize the score. At the end of the game, neither team scored a goal and the game ended in a draw.
In the post-match interview, Jota was asked about scoring again against Nottingham Forest. Jota said: "I think it's just a coincidence. Obviously, I like to score goals."
"Today I scored with my first touch and that gave the team some momentum. I had two more chances where I felt I could have won three points but I didn't do it."
Jota was talking to teammate Kostas Tsimikas during the game, and the reporter asked what he said to Tsimikas. Jota replied: "I told him that now is the time, to repeat his assist and take this corner kick."
"That's how the goal happened, everything went right. But like I said, I'm not happy because I felt we could have won the game."
Although Liverpool only got 1 point, they are still at the top of the Premier League with 47 points, 6 points ahead of Nottingham Forest, which is in second place. Liverpool's next Premier League game will be on January 18, away to Brentford.
"There is still a long way to go. Every home game in the Premier League is difficult, even our own home. We got another point, but obviously we wanted three points more," Jota added.
