Enzo Maresca thought the team did a good job and created a lot of chances

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca believes his side could have won against Crystal Palace, but he admits there is always a risk of dropping points if they don't take their chances to end the game early.  

Cole Palmer scored the opening goal within 15 minutes of the game, but Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised in the dying seconds of the game, much to Chelsea's frustration.  

Chelsea controlled the match for large parts of the Premier League match and had the better chances throughout the 90 minutes. Despite leading for over an hour, the team were only able to take a point when the whistle blew, and Enzo Maresca believes his side deserved more.  

Enzo Maresca said: "Today we did as much as we could to win the game. I think we created enough chances in the first and second half to win the game. However, we need to be more calm next time, otherwise the game will always be full of suspense."  

"Any transition and any corner kick brought life to the players. Unfortunately, we conceded in the end. But in summary, we did well enough today."  

In addition, Enzo Maresca said that he is more focused on the team's performance rather than the latest results. Enzo Maresca said: "For me, it's not the standings, but to see how we can improve. Today's performance was good for me, both with and without the ball."  

"You have moments like this with any team during the season, you have moments where you can't win games. Every game is different, sometimes it's for one reason, sometimes it's for another reason."  

“If you keep your mind open towards the end, you’re going to concede some transition chances and some corners and then you’re going to concede goals.”  

Enzo Maresca added: "I always say the most important thing is to create chances, because if you create chances, it means you are doing the right things. Then, you need to take those chances."  

"We had a lot of chances against Ipswich. That's how football works, sometimes you create one chance and score one goal, sometimes you need 10 chances to score two.  

"The only thing we can do is to work harder in the week leading up to the game. Even though the players' intensity is top notch, there are still areas for us to improve, remembering that we are one of the teams with the most goals at the moment."
