The Nets signed head coach Fernandez and his coaching staff to multi-year contract extensions.

The Brooklyn Nets officially announced today that they have reached a multi-year contract extension agreement with head coach Jordi Fernandez and his coaching staff.

Despite the Nets' record of only 20 wins and 62 losses this season, and their total record of 46 wins and 118 losses in the two seasons under Fernandez's coaching, the management still cast a strong vote of confidence in him.

Currently, the Nets are undergoing a complete rebuilding phase, incorporating as many as five rookies selected in the first round of the 2025 NBA draft. The team's management firmly believes that this young coach from Spain is the best person to lead this young team to continued growth and a resurgence.

Nets general manager Sean Marks praised Fernandez's contributions in an official statement: "Jordy is an exceptional leader. From the first day he arrived in Brooklyn, he and his coaching staff have left their mark on this team."

“Over the past two seasons, Jordi has built a strong team culture based on player development, competitive spirit, and open communication, and these ideas have been recognized and supported by all of our players.”

Before officially taking over the Brooklyn Nets, Fernandez had an extensive coaching resume. He served as an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets for six years and as the assistant head coach for the Sacramento Kings for two years.

Furthermore, Fernandez's international experience is equally impressive. At the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, he led the Canadian men's national basketball team to a bronze medal, marking the country's first-ever medal in men's basketball history.
