Tottenham Hotspur plan to sign Liverpool and Bournemouth defenders, Andy Robertson Marcos Sennesi on free transfers if they avoid relegation..

The Athletic's resident renowned English transfer journalist David Ornstein, exclusively reported on Sunday that Tottenham Hotspur plan to sign Liverpool vice-captain, legendary Scotland left-back Andy Robertson and Bournemouth vice-captain, Argentina international center-back Marcos Sennesi on free transfers if they avoid relegation.

According to Ornstein, Spurs are determined to acquire Robertson and Sennesi and believe that signing them on free transfers is the most cost-effective way to strengthen their defense.

Currently, Spurs' sporting director Johan Lange has already held in-depth talks with the agents of both players, and both have verbally indicated that they are open to joining the club. However, this is contingent on Spurs successfully avoiding relegation at the end of the season.

However, since neither player has yet signed with Tottenham Hotspur and no personal terms have been formally agreed upon, anything can still happen until the last minute.

Robertson and Marcos Sennesi publicly stated last month that they would leave the club at the end of the season. Since then, both players have received offers from multiple clubs, but have yet to reach an agreement with any of them.

It's worth mentioning that Spurs had already wanted to sign the Liverpool player during the January transfer window, but because the team was plagued by injuries at the time, and Robertson ultimately decided to stay until the end of the season.

Senesi, on the other hand, decided to leave Bournemouth after his contract expires this summer as he wants to double his wages and wants to challenge playing at European competition again in the coming years.

A few weeks ago, the iPaper's resident renowned Bournemouth team correspondent Mark Douglas, reported that Liverpool were also interested in signing Senesi on a free transfer, but this rumour has since died down.

Douglas has a certain level of credibility as he accurately predicted Richard Hughes and Milos Kerkez's move to Liverpool before, and Ben Gannon-Doak's move to Bournemouth in return, before Fabrizio Romano did so.

Both Spurs and Liverpool have experienced severe defensive problems this season, requiring both teams to significantly strengthen their defenses.

Spurs, in particular, have gone 13 consecutive Premier League matches without a win (5 draws, 8 losses) since the start of 2026, approaching the all-time unwanted record of 16 winless-streak in the English top flight and marking the club's second-longest winless streak in the top flight since 1912.
