FiReLEAGUE released a statement on Sunday confirming that the CS2 Major will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in June 2027. This will be the first CS Major in Argentine history, and the second Valve-sponsored tournament in South America, following the 2022 Rio IEM Major.
The statement reads: "In the land of Messi and Maradona, the fervor for Counter-Strike is no less than the obsession with football."
"We will go all out to make this Special Championship a top-level event. Go for it!"
Founded in 2020, the Argentine tournament organizer FiReLEAGUE has accumulated extensive experience in operating small and medium-sized tournaments in recent years. Since 2022, they have hosted multiple FiReLEAGUE Global Finals, attracting many well-known teams such as Virtus.pro and Spirit to participate.
In an interview with HLTV, FiReLEAGUE CEO Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes couldn't hide his joy. He said, "We are thrilled to host our country's first-ever Major. Fans will be delighted to come to Buenos Aires, a city that blends European and Latin American influences, and be awestruck by the passion of Argentine CS2 players."
