Fenerbahce's humiliating derby defeat leads to manager Tedesco's dismissal

Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce has officially announced the dismissal of head coach Domenico Tedesco.

In last weekend's key Turkish Super League derby, Fenerbahce suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat to arch-rivals Galatasaray. This crushing defeat leaves the team seven points behind league leaders Galatasaray with only three rounds remaining, essentially shattering their dreams of winning the Turkish Super League title this season.

Tedesco's tenure at Fenerbahce was rather short-lived. Last September, former manager José Mourinho was sacked after the team lost to Benfica in the Champions League play-offs, and Tedesco immediately signed a two-year contract to take over.

Throughout the season, Tedesco led the team to only two league defeats and won the Turkish Super Cup in January, defeating Galatasaray. However, the team's elimination from the Europa League playoffs by Nottingham Forest, coupled with the crushing defeat in this derby, ultimately prompted the management to decide to change managers.

Fenerbahce has not won the Turkish Super League title since 2014. In an effort to reverse this decline, the club has made personnel changes, with sporting director Devin Ozek and football coordinator Belk Celebi parting ways with the team.

Assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole has been appointed as interim head coach and will lead the team for the remainder of the season.
