The Toronto Raptors have officially announced that their starting guard, Emmanuel Quickley, aggravated his right hamstring strain during rehabilitation. Therefore, he will miss the remainder of the first-round playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
As the Raptors' offensive engine in the backcourt, Quickley played 70 regular season games, averaging 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and a career-high 5.9 assists, with 20 games where he scored over 20 points.
However, Quirkley was plagued by injuries at the end of the season, first missing out due to plantar fasciitis, and then straining his hamstring in the final game of the regular season. This worsening of his injury forced him to miss the first round of the playoffs.
Faced with the predicament of their starting point guard being injured, the Raptors coaching staff quickly made adjustments, arranging for Jamal Shead to take over in place of Quekley in the starting lineup.
Despite being plagued by injuries, the Raptors players displayed remarkable resilience. In their third game on Thursday, the Raptors, back at home, unleashed their full fighting spirit, securing a resounding 126-104 victory over the Cavaliers.
This victory not only ended the team's bitter 12-game losing streak against the Cavaliers in the playoffs, but also brought the series score to 1-2, reigniting their hopes of advancing. According to the schedule, the crucial Game 4 of the series will continue in Toronto this Sunday afternoon.
