The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) announced on its official website on Wednesday that it has imposed a lifetime ban on German Counter Strike 2 player MAUSchine, for assaulting another player in public after losing a match.
According to the ESIC's official statement, the organization has zero tolerance for any form of violence. MAUSchine's actions violated competitive integrity and the sportsmanship expected of players, placing another person in a dangerous situation and severely damaging the reputation of the esports industry.
Effective immediately, MAUSchine will be banned from participating in any esports events authorized and governed by the ESIC. The organization will also increase its oversight to prevent such unethical behavior from recurring in any esports competitions worldwide.
According to footage circulating online, MAUSchine participated in the CAGGTUS Leipzig LAN event in Germany on April 20th.
On that day, when the host introduced and invited the two teams, MAUSchine went on stage and inexplicably slapped his opponent, Spidergum.
Due to the force of the blow, Spidergum appeared bewildered and unable to react on stage after the attack. The host immediately called security to remove MAUSchine from the stage.
According to Dust 2, the two had previously faced off in an online match. Spidergum's post-victory comments were interpreted by MAUSchine as provocative and arrogant, thus sparking a feud. MAUSchine's actions were interpreted as a deliberate act of violence in retaliation for losing the match.
With the release of the video of MAUSchine's public assault, netizens overwhelmingly condemned his behaviour on various social media platforms. Several German Counter Strike 2 esports events, such as FRAGster and the DACH League, immediately issued official statements announcing a 10-year ban on MAUSchine.
Meanwhile, the eSport-Bund Deutschland (ESBD) also issued a statement announcing that the matter had been handed over to ESIC for an independent investigation and further instructions.
