American reporter: Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is expected to leave his post at the end of this season.

According to a report by NBC Bay Area reporter Monte Poole on Tuesday, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is expected to leave his post at the end of this season.

Since joining the Warriors in May 2014, Kerr has accumulated a record of 604 wins and 353 losses in the regular season. He also delivered an outstanding performance of 104 wins and 48 losses in the playoffs, and led the team to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022).

However, the Warriors' performance this season has been far from ideal. With key players such as Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Al Horford all sidelined with injuries, they were ultimately defeated by the Phoenix Suns and eliminated in the play-in tournament.

Steve Kerr's contract with the Warriors expires at the end of this season. Multiple sources indicate he will meet with team owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy in the coming days to discuss his future. However, Poole stated bluntly, "Since last weekend, there's been a widespread belief within the Warriors—including Draymond Green—and the league that Kerr is likely to leave after this meeting."

Poole further pointed out that salary was not the key factor influencing Cole's decision to stay or leave: "They could offer Steve a contract worth $25 million a year, but I doubt that alone would be enough to change Cole's decision."

If Kerr chooses to leave, the Warriors' management is expected to look for a new head coach from outside. They are not ruling out the possibility of recruiting talent from college leagues, with Todd Golden, head coach of the University of Florida Alligators, being one of the candidates.

If Kerr re-signs, the Warriors hope he will sign a contract that lasts longer than one season. This move is mainly to prevent Kerr from repeating the "Last Dance" incident next season and to use this opportunity to revamp the offensive system.
