The 2025/26 German Cup semi-finals will take place, with Bayern Munich traveling to the BayArena to face Bayer Leverkusen. Manager Vincent Kompany stated that he is looking forward to the match and hopes the team can advance to the final.
In an earlier Bundesliga match, Bayern Munich defeated Stuttgart 4-2 at home, thanks to goals from Guerreiro, Jackson, Alphonso Davies and Kane, thus securing their title defense with four rounds to spare.
In head-to-head records, Bayern Munich has a record of 3 wins and 2 draws in their last 5 matches against Bayer Leverkusen, but they were eliminated by Leverkusen in the round of 16 of last season's German Cup.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany said, "I think this will be our eighth time playing against Bayer Leverkusen in two years. They've had different managers, but we know these players very well and are fully aware of what we'll be facing. In the last match, we saw what kind of emotions are needed for the game and which ones are best left at home. Every time we play against them, it's a fierce battle. Therefore, we don't expect anything different this time."
“I don’t feel particularly pressured, but this is a 90-minute, maybe even 120-minute, semi-final. Starting tomorrow, we’ll know who goes to Berlin. This is a very special match, and we can’t take it lightly. The preparation process and work are no different from other matches, and we are looking forward to tomorrow’s challenge.”
Kompany emphasized, "We are focused on the task at hand, not the past. Although we have had some success against them recently, including in the Champions League, tomorrow will be a completely new story. I don't think any of us will underestimate this game; we are confident and know what we are facing."
“I never reached a final when I played for Hamburg. But there’s always a first time, and I hope it will be this season. I have great respect for tomorrow’s opponents; teams that have come this far deserve this hope. But when that moment comes, I will bring with me my experience from cup finals in England and Belgium.”
Furthermore, when discussing Musiala's gradual return to form, Kompany said, "Musiala is currently in a very good phase. His physical condition has improved significantly, and he is now close to his peak physical condition, not only in terms of strength but also in terms of running power. He can press as we ask and win duels. The question now is when his 'magic' will fully return? And that will definitely happen; some moments have already arrived."
“He has been involved in nine goals in 600 minutes, which shows that he is ready. For me, when his freedom is fully restored, we may see an evolved version of Musiala, and I am very much looking forward to that moment.”
