Toda Ekert admitted he was somewhat disappointed after Southampton's eight-game winning streak was snapped by Bristol City. The match was played at St. Mary's Stadium, where Southampton started slowly, falling behind twice. Once less than five minutes into the game, and again during a corner kick in the second half. However, the team responded quickly on both occasions, managing to equalize.

The head coach praised the team's fighting spirit in the game, especially their efforts to score again in the final stages, and also gave an objective evaluation of the team's overall performance.

Toda Ekert said: "I don't think this was our best game of the season. But considering the packed schedule in April, it's not easy to stay at our best all the time. We were overtaken just 60 seconds into the game, and our defense didn't handle it well, so we didn't get off to a good start. However, this also shows the resilience and comeback ability that the team has always had."

“I think we had two crucial chances in the second half that we could have won if we had capitalized on them. But as with every game, we need to forget about this one as soon as possible and focus on the next one.”

Southampton got off to a poor start to the game as captain Jack Stephens withdrew from the starting lineup during pre-match warm-up due to a calf discomfort, and was replaced by Nathan Wood. Toda Eckert added: "I only learned before the game that he had some calf discomfort near the end of warm-up, so we made the adjustment. I think this was our best performance so far. Tonight's game is over, and from tomorrow we will be fully prepared for the next game."
