In the FA Cup quarter-final, Leeds United secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Norwich City at Elland Road, advancing strongly into the quarter-finals.
The biggest contributor to this match was Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson, who not only provided a crucial assist but also scored his first goal since joining Leeds United.
In the match, Gudmundsson took the lead, setting up Shane Longstaff with a precise cross to open the scoring. He then followed up with a well-timed run, finishing off a cross from Daniel James on the wing to score his first goal for Leeds United. In the second half, Joel Piro added another, sealing the final score at 3-0.
In a post-match interview, Gudmundsson couldn't hide his excitement at breaking his goal drought: "Finally! I missed some great chances before, so it feels very special to score my first goal at home."
“Daniel was playing exceptionally well along his route. So I knew that as soon as he got the ball, all I had to do was run into the penalty area and he would pass it to me. Luckily, the ball came right to my feet, and all I had to do was kick it in.”
Speaking about the team's overall performance, Gudmundsson believed this victory was crucial. He admitted that the team had performed poorly against Sunderland in the previous match, and the whole team was eager to bounce back with a big win and prove their strength to the home fans.
The Swedish defender is full of confidence for the upcoming journey: "The 3-0 result has given us a strong boost. Now we will wait for the quarter-final draw results, and we are ready to meet the new challenges."
