Rossellini is happy with Lavia's form and performance.

Chelsea defeated Wrexham 4-2 in the fifth round of the 2025/26 FA Cup, thanks to goals from Josh Achampong, Ganacho, and João Pedro. Manager Rossenier, in an interview, expressed his delight with Lavia's form and performance, stating that the team will continue to help the midfielder regain his best form.

In the 18th minute, Sam Smith opened the scoring with a low shot, giving Wrexham a 1-0 lead. In the 40th minute, Liam Delap played a through ball to Ganacho, whose shot was deflected by an opposing player before hitting Wrexham goalkeeper Okonkwo and going into the net, leveling the score at 1-1 for Chelsea.

In the 96th minute, Dario Essugo chipped a pass into the penalty area, and Ganacho volleyed home to give Chelsea a 3-2 lead over Wrexham. In stoppage time of extra time, Dario Essugo passed the ball to João Pedro, who then slotted it home from inside the box.

Ultimately, Chelsea eliminated Wrexham 4-2 away from home.

Chelsea manager Rossenier said of Lavia, "We are about to enter a crucial stretch of the season, and Lavia will be very important to us. He needs playing time, and we must get him back into rhythm as soon as possible, while also giving Dario Essugo more playing time, and both of them have been playing very well."

“It’s really great for Lavia to be able to play 60 minutes because we’ve taken a different approach to his recovery. We need to be more patient and gradually get him back into match fitness in a different way.”

Rossellini also said, "No player who has been out for four months can be in perfect form immediately, but he performed very well when he came on as a substitute against Arsenal and also performed well in the game against Aston Villa. He is a top player, but you can't expect a player who has been out for four months to be in top form immediately."

In addition, Chelsea will travel to the Parc des Princes to challenge French champions Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

Rosselli added, "It would be ideal to give Lavia and Dario Essugo around 60 minutes of playing time, because we need the strength of every player during the final stretch of the season."
