McFarlane on Palmer's return from injury: "It's been a difficult time for him."

Chelsea interim manager Callum McFarlane recently gave an interview in which he spoke highly of Chelsea's key player, Cole Palmer.

After a brilliant start to his career, Palmer suffered his first major injury in the second half of 2025. With his recent return in the FA Cup semi-final, he is expected to return to the starting lineup for the upcoming Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

Speaking about Palmer's return from injury, McFarlane was full of confidence: "It's been a tough time for Cole, and he has to learn how to cope with injuries. Although he can sometimes have a greater impact, he has performed exceptionally well over the past three months, creating numerous excellent scoring opportunities for his teammates."

McFarlane praised Palmer's professionalism, stating that Palmer demonstrates great passion and talent in training every day, and insists that he remains one of the best players in the world.

McFarlane's knowledge of Palmer dates back to his time in Manchester City's youth academy. He recalled that although he only watched Palmer dominate in the U21 team back then, his innate talent was already astonishing.

McFarlane points out that Palmer, who is now shining in the Premier League, is no different from before: "He is still the same person. What is most valuable is that he can see passing routes and opportunities that others cannot. Now, he has just taken this extraordinary creativity to a higher level."

As the season enters its final stretch, McFarlane not only expects Palmer to play a decisive role in Chelsea's upcoming matches, but also hopes he can bring his outstanding vision and talent to the World Cup, contributing to England's success at crucial moments.
