Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed on Monday that Bayern Munich plans to hold contract extension talks with Harry Kane after the end of this season.
In August 2023, the 32-year-old Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur for a record-breaking €100 million. To date, he has made 141 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 138 goals and providing 32 assists, winning two Bundesliga titles and one German Super Cup with the team.
With his consistent and efficient performance, Kane has earned high praise from everyone at Bayern Munich. As a member of Bayern's supervisory board, Rummenigge expressed his admiration for Kane in an interview with T-Online: "Bringing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich was a successful signing in the club's history."
He added, “Under Vincent Kompany’s management, Harry has undergone a complete transformation. He used to be a prolific striker, but now he’s more like an playmaker. He often drops back into midfield and uses precise long passes to bring Michael Olise and Luis Diaz into the attack. His ability is crucial to our tactical system.”
Kane's current contract expires in June 2027 and includes a £57 million release clause. Despite previous rumors that the clause might be triggered, Rummenigge remains optimistic about Kane's contract renewal prospects: "It is well known that Harry's contract includes a release clause. He did not exercise that clause, which means he will most likely remain in Munich."
"As planned, the club's operational staff will meet with him sometime after the season ends. The goal is very clear: to extend his contract."
