In the recently concluded Premier League match, Arsenal suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat to Manchester City away from home. Despite losing this crucial game, with only five rounds remaining in the league, Arsenal, having played one more game, still hold a three-point lead.
In a post-match interview, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta highly praised the team's competitive form and addressed the regret of missing key opportunities.
“This is a very disappointing result, especially the way we lost,” Arteta admitted. “We played a very strong game and were fully committed to the match.”
“We did a great job managing our emotions and got the game into the rhythm we wanted. We had the best chance of the game, but we failed to convert it into a goal, and that’s where the gap is.”
When asked whether missing a good chance made the result harder to accept or more optimistic, Arteta responded: "Both, because we created a great scoring opportunity against a team that defends very tightly and rarely loses possession."
"But ultimately, winning a match depends on seizing the crucial moments. When they get their chance, they put the ball in the net, and that's the difference."
Next week, Arsenal will return home to face Newcastle United. Arteta remains confident in their title hopes and has given the team a final push: "We missed a golden opportunity to win today, but I think we used that chance to show the world our depth, our competitive spirit, and the true level of our team."
"We still have five games to play, so it's a completely new Premier League now. They have a game in hand, and we have a three-point lead. So, the competition has officially begun."
