Premier League – Haaland scores as Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1

The 33rd round of the 2025/26 Premier League season featured another key match, with Manchester City, playing at the Etihad Stadium, defeating Arsenal 2-1 thanks to goals from Rajon Scherki and Erling Haaland.

Four minutes into the match, Manchester City created an attacking opportunity when Nico O'Reilly passed the ball to Haaland, whose shot was blocked. Shortly after, Rajan Scherki attempted a shot in a scramble, but the ball struck the post and was caught by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

In the 6th minute, Arsenal midfielder Rice took a corner kick, and Mosquera headed the ball but it went wide. In the 10th minute, Arsenal continued their attack, and Havertz received a through pass from Ødegaard and fired a low shot, but it was cleared by Nunes.

In the 16th minute, Nunes chested the ball down, and Rajan Scherki received it, dribbled past several defenders, and fired a low shot into the net, giving Manchester City a 1-0 lead. In the 18th minute, Manchester City goalkeeper Donnarumma made a mistake while kicking the ball away, and Havertz immediately stepped up and tapped the ball into the empty net, helping Arsenal quickly equalize at 1-1.

In the 27th minute, Manchester City launched a passing combination, and Haaland, at the edge of the penalty area, received a back pass from Doku and fired a long-range shot, but it went wide. In the 33rd minute, Husanov delivered a cross from the right wing, and Guey headed the ball towards goal, but it was caught by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya. In the 42nd minute, Rajen Serki passed the ball to Semenio, whose shot was cleared.

In the 43rd minute, Bernardo Silva took a corner kick, and Saliba jumped up in front of the goal to clear the ball.

In the 48th minute of the second half, Manchester City's corner kick was blocked, and Haaland took a shot in the ensuing scramble, but the ball hit the post. In the second half stoppage time, Trossard chipped a pass from the right wing into the penalty area, where Havertz rose to head the ball, but it went high over the post.

Manchester City ultimately defeated Arsenal 2-1. With this victory, City now sit second in the league table with 67 points, three points behind leaders Arsenal with one game in hand.
