Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, have once again slammed Chinese online media outlet Dong Qiu Di on Sunday for fabricating the fake news which claimed that Manchester United planned to sign both Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison if Tottenham Hotspur were relegated through his personal paid column.
In his column, Romano angrily said that Manchester United has never made any plans for their summer transfer window at this time. Furthermore, he has already said that the Red Devils will not make any plans for the summer transfer window until the question of whether Michael Carrick will remain as manager is resolved. Therefore, based on this alone, the rumour is completely unreliable.
He also harshly criticized that, while Spurs do face a high possibility of relegation at the end of the season, spreading rumours about which clubs their players will transfer to at this time is disrespectful to the club and maliciously creates anxiety among fans.
In fact, no journalist or insider in the industry has ever heard of Manchester United's interest in signing James Maddison. This wasn't the case years ago, when Leicester City was relegated, or even this season.
Romano revealed that the authenticity and source of the interview report claiming Maddison has been a "Manchester United fan since childhood" are unverifiable, yet this fake news has persisted on content farms and websites specializing in spreading misinformation, primarily in China.
Moreover, Maddison is currently recovering from a serious injury he suffered last summer. Not just Manchester United, Liverpool too, has absolutely no plans to "potentially be interested in him" in the near future!
If Spurs are indeed relegated, Dejan Kulusevski will inevitably consider leaving the club for his future. However, having never received any offers from other clubs, he will focus on helping his current team rather than planning a move at this time.
Romano also harshly criticized the recent trend that whenever Dong Qiu Di spread rumours, the clubs the rumoured players would be joining invariably include "Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, or Inter Milan!"
This shows that Dong Qiu Di's methods for spreading rumours have run out of steam, yet people still seem willing to believe them, much to his frustration.
Upon investigation, Dong Qiu Di fabricated this fake news on March 7th. Another consistent tactic they use is to blame the British fake news outlet, the Mirror, for the "source"!
However, the Mirror did indeed written a piece about the potential problems Tottenham Hotspur might face if relegated, mentioning that players like Maddison and Kulusevski might leave.
But the original article never mentioned that "Manchester United planned to sign both Kulusevski and Maddison after the club's relegation!"
The original article did not mention that "the Premier League giants may plan to continue monitoring the two players"!
All of this is fabricated and exaggerated by Dong Qiu Di, which have been completely unfounded claims!
