Lens announced on their official website on Sunday that they have extended the contract of their experienced captain, French forward Florian Sotoca.
According to Lens' official statement, Sotoca has signed on a new short-term one-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.
About Florian Sotoca
The 35-year-old Sotoca was born on October 25, 1990, in Narbonne, France. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward, but can also play as a right winger or attacking midfielder.
Sotoca joined the youth academy of his hometown club Narbonne at the age of six. He joined Martigues in the summer of 2013 and completed his Martigues first-team debut in a Coupe de France match that September.
The following summer, Sotoca moved to Béziers on a free transfer.
In the summer of 2015, Sotoca moved to Montpellier on a free transfer.
During his time at Montpellier, Sotoca only played for their reserve team.
The following summer, Sotoca joined Grenoble on a free transfer.
During his three-year spell at Grenoble, Sotoca helped the club win the CFA title once, achieve three consecutive promotions, and his outstanding performances in Ligue 2 attracted the attention of several mid-to-lower-table Ligue 1 clubs.
In July 2019, Sotoca joined Lens for €1 million.
Since becoming a member of Les Sang et Or, Sotoca has made 242 appearances for the Ligue 1 dark horse in all competitions, scoring 41 goals and providing 31 assists.
