Former ESPN and The Athletic reporter Marc Stein reported on Thursday that the New Orleans Pelicans are interested in appointing Boston Celtics legend Rajon Rondo as their new head coach.

According to the report, the Pelicans' management interviewed Rondo last week to discuss the possibility of him taking over as head coach. The team is very satisfied with Rondo's two years as a guest coach for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Currently, the New Orleans Pelicans have not yet made a decision, but The Celts' former number 9 shooting guard, remains the team's leading potential candidate for the head coach role.

In fact, the former Boston Celtics star himself has publicly stated that he is ready to take on a coaching role and even expressed confidence that he is fully capable of handling the position.

On the other hand, this isn't the first organization to praise Rondo's coaching potential. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo recently stated in an interview with The Athletic that Rondo is the best mentor from whom younger players on the team can learn a great deal.
