◤Premier League◢ Florian Wirtz scores as Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace by 3-1..

Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace by 3-1 at Anfield on matchday 34 of the 2025/26 Premier League season on Saturday.

In the first half, Salah was fouled but a penalty was denied, Isak then converted on the rebound, followed by a goal from Robertson. In the second half, Muñoz's goal from a long-range shot while Woodman was injured sparked controversy, while Strand Larsen's shot hit the post and bounced off. Wirtz scored a crucial goal in the final moments. Ultimately, Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace by 3-1. After this round of matches, the Reds temporarily rise to 4th place with 58 points, taking a significant step closer to securing a Champions League spot; the Eagles are currently in 13th place with 43 points.

First Half

In the 24th minute, Florian Wirtz delivered a low diagonal through ball from near the midfield center circle. After beating the offside trap, Mohamed Salah quickly quickly followed up, got the ball, and dribbled into the center of the box before being brought down by Brennan Johnson. The VAR assistant referee immediately intervened, and the referee himself went to the sidelines to review the VAR. Upon checking, referees ruled that Salah had already avoided Johnson's pressure before being brought down, therefore refusing to award a penalty!

11 minutes later, Salah passes horizontally from the right side of the box. His pass was initially headed and cleared off not far away by Chris Richards. Alexis Mac Allister quickly followed up and after picking up the loose ball, fired a right-footed long shot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball was unfortunately blocked by his teammate Alexander Isak, who then picked up the loose ball and half-volleyed it into the top right corner of the net with his left-footed follow-up shot from the center of the shot. Liverpool broke the deadlock first to take a 1-0 lead! The Sweden international striker, who had been plagued by injuries this season, finally broke his four-month goal drought!

In the 40th minute, Daichi Kamada crossed into the box from the left wing, where Jean-Philippe Mateta rose high and attempted with a header, however his effort was saved by Freddie Woodman.

In the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Crystal Palace earned a corner opportunity. Johnson took the corner by crossing it into the box, where Maxence Lacroix rose high and attempted with a header, however his effort was saved by Woodman.

At halftime, Liverpool temporarily led Crystal Palace by 2-0 going into the break.

Second Half

Both teams switched sides as the match continued. In the 71st minute, Woodman, while making a successful save from Ismaïla Sarr's shot inside the box, suffered a leg cramp and fell to the ground. Liverpool players immediately stopped to allow the team doctor to treat him. However, Daniel Muñoz, after picking up the loose ball, deliberately fired a long-range shot from outside the penalty area into the empty net. Although this allowed Crystal Palace to pull one back, it also sparked a huge controversy regarding fair play!

13 minutes later, Crystal Palace launched a quick counter-attack. Adam Wharton delivered a through ball from the right wing. After beating the offside trap, Jørgen Strand Larsen quickly followed up, got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box before volleying the ball with his right foot against the outrushing Woodman. Unfortunately, his shot struck the bottom left corner of the post and deflected out of play, Crystal Palace missed a golden opportunity to equalize against Liverpool!

In the 6th minute of stoppage time, Mac Allister passed the ball back from the right side of the box. Florian Wirtz quickly followed up, and upon receiving the pass, half-volleyed the ball into the top left corner of the net with his right foot, leaving Henderson helpless. Liverpool secured a 3-1 victory!

When the final whislte is blown, Liverpool defeated Crystal Palace by 3-1.
