The Brooklyn Nets recently announced that Egor Demin, the team's first lottery pick in 15 years and a 20-year-old Russian guard, will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season due to a worsening of his plantar fasciitis injury in his left foot.
Plantar fasciitis has been plaguing Jeminy since last summer league, and with recent increases in soreness, the team decided to take cautious injury management measures. Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez revealed the good news is that Jeminy 's injury does not require surgery.
The current focus is on ensuring Jemin's full recovery so he can participate in the Summer League in early July and the off-season development program in perfect health. Fernandez stated, "Health is always the top priority. While missing the remaining 20+ games is regrettable, we remain extremely confident in his recovery and future."
Despite his rookie season ending prematurely due to injury, Jeming's first NBA stat line was still quite impressive. As the 8th overall pick in the first round, the 2.07-meter combo guard played 52 games this season (45 starts), consistently contributing 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
Jeminy's most notable attribute this season is his elite-level outside shooting. He has made a total of 124 three-pointers, ranking second among this year's rookies; his 38.5% three-point shooting percentage is also a new Nets franchise record for eligible rookies.
During this period, Jemin not only became the second fastest player in NBA history to reach the milestone of 100 three-pointers, but also set an NBA rookie record of making three-pointers in 34 consecutive games.
In addition, Jemin hit 7 three-pointers in a single game against the Golden State Warriors last December (setting a team rookie record) and was selected for the 2026 Los Angeles All-Star Rookie Challenge, where he won the championship with his team.
The team hopes that Jemin can focus on improving his physical strength and refining his defensive skills this summer. After sufficient rest and targeted training, this young guard with exceptional shooting talent is expected to have an even stronger breakout season next year.
