Klopp believes Wirtz possesses the key elements to become a top player.

In a recent interview, football legend Jurgen Klopp spoke about Liverpool midfielder André Wirtz, believing that the young player possesses the elements needed to become a top player. He also expressed his hope that players he had previously coached would enjoy their World Cup journey.

Wirtz, from Germany, joined Liverpool last June. Although he did not perform well in the early stages of the 2025/26 season, after a period of adaptation and adjustment, he successfully responded to the doubts from the outside world with goals and performances.

So far this Premier League season, Wirtz has contributed 5 goals and 3 assists for Liverpool, while in the Champions League he has scored one goal and provided 3 assists.

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said, "I hope Wirtz can have a fantastic World Cup. I think he has everything it takes to become a top player."

“I don’t want to put pressure on this young player, but I really think he has shown his ability in such a tough season.”

As for other Liverpool players he has coached, Klopp said, "I hope my players have a great World Cup, and I also hope that Robertson and Alisson will enjoy it when they meet on the pitch."

Klopp also said, "I wish Van Dijk a great performance, and I sincerely hope Salah and Mane have a great time. And McAllister, if they can win again. I still remember the way he looked when he came back to Brighton with his medal, it was really beautiful."
