Goretzka: I'm very interested in playing in overseas leagues; I'll let things happen naturally.

Leon Goretzka recently stated that he is open to playing in overseas leagues.

The 31-year-old Goretzka is an outstanding representative of Germany's middle-generation midfielders. He played for Bochum and Schalke 04 for the first six seasons of his professional career. Since joining Bayern Munich in July 2018, he has made 297 appearances in all competitions, scoring 48 goals and providing 49 assists. His honors include one Champions League title, one Club World Cup title, six Bundesliga titles, one UEFA Super Cup title, two German Cup titles, and three German Super Cup titles.

However, Goretzka's time at the Allianz Arena is drawing to a close. His current contract with Bayern Munich expires this summer, but all indications suggest that neither side intends to renew. Goretzka recently told Sky Sports Germany: "I am indeed very interested in playing in overseas leagues. I feel it's time now. Perhaps this is my last chance to play abroad. I still hope to continue competing at a high level. Let's wait and see what opportunities the future holds. I'm very relaxed about it, let's just let things take their course."

When asked whether she preferred the sunshine of Southern Europe or the rain of England in the future, Goretzka cleverly replied, "Who doesn't like sunshine? However, I certainly won't decide my next destination based on the weather. We'll definitely find a good choice."

What Goretzka will do after leaving this summer remains uncertain. Several clubs in England, Spain, Italy, and Turkey have expressed interest in him, including Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
