Gaimin Gladiators' CS2 team announced on Saturday that Brazilian rifle legend Fernando Alvarenga (ID: fer), 34, has officially joined the team. He will replace João Vasconcelos (ID: felps) in the starting lineup and will travel with the team to IEM Cologne from June 2nd to 21st.
This collaboration with GG also signifies fer's return to the CS scene after three years. He had not played for any team since leaving Imperial in January 2023.
fer turned professional in 2011 and has since played for several top CS teams, including KaBuM, Keyd Stars, Luminosity, SK, MIBR, 00NATION, Last Dance, and Imperial. During this time, he won over 40 championship titles, including 11 S-level tournaments such as the 2016 Columbus MLG Championship, ESL Pro League Season 3 Finals, 2016 ESL One Cologne, 2017 IEM Sydney, ECS Season 3 World Finals, 2017 ESL One Cologne, 2017 Epicenter Major, and ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals.
GG warmly welcomed fer's arrival via the X platform: "He retired as a legend. Two Major champions inspired an entire generation. However, legends don't stand still forever. fer will return to the CS scene, and as a member of Gladiators."
Following this personnel adjustment, GG's starting lineup is now confirmed as follows:
Commander/Rifleman: Jonathan Williams (ID: JOTA)
Breakthrough player: Gabriel Schonato (ID: NEKIZ)
Sniper: Enrique Telles (ID: HEN1)
Sniper: Luca Nadotti (ID: Luken)
Rifleman: Fernando Alvarenga (ID: fer)
