Liverpool will travel to Hill Dickinson Stadium for a key match in the 33rd round of the 2025/26 Premier League season to face Everton in the Merseyside derby. Swedish striker Isak said that his physical condition is gradually improving and he hopes to achieve a good result with Liverpool.
In the last round of the Premier League, Liverpool defeated Fulham 2-0 thanks to goals from Ngumoha and Salah. Liverpool currently sits in 5th place in the standings with 52 points, still on their journey to qualify for the Champions League.
Unfortunately, in the earlier Champions League quarter-final second leg, Liverpool, trailing behind, conceded two goals in the second half and were ultimately eliminated 0-2 by Paris Saint-Germain. This season, only Champions League qualification remains the most realistic goal for Slaughter's team.
The 26-year-old Isak joined Liverpool last September on a long-term contract. However, he suffered a serious injury in the Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur in December and was sidelined for about 16 weeks until his return to the pitch in the recent match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool striker Isak said: "I've been out for a long time and I've been working hard to recover during that time, so I'm very happy to be back on the pitch."
"A long absence is never easy to face, but I feel I am gradually getting back into form, and I hope we can achieve the desired results. This is basically a typical scenario for every recovery. Some are more complicated, but this was a rather serious injury, and it took a lot of hard work and a long period of time to get to where we are today."
Although Isak has returned to the field, Liverpool striker Ektić suffered a serious injury against Paris Saint-Germain, ending his season and thus preventing him from representing France in the 2026 World Cup.
Isak said, "We are all very saddened by his injury. It is very unfortunate for him and for the team, but we will all support him."
Furthermore, looking back at the first leg of the season, Liverpool defeated Everton 2-1 at Anfield after goals from Hrafinberg and Ekittik.
Isak also said, "These are the moments and matches like these that we most want to be involved in, and I hope we can have a great day. I think we just need to perform well, work hard, and compete as a team. Our strength is there, and now all we need to do is show it."
