Marco Silva expressed his disappointment at his team's eventual defeat in a closely contested and cautious match against West Ham United. The game was almost tied 0-0, but after a defensive lapse, Cristiano Somerville capitalized on a chance to score with 25 minutes remaining.
Despite the tight nature of the match, Marco Silva admitted that his team failed to perform to their potential. He stated, "The game was very tense, with limited chances. But before the end of the first half, Callum Wilson and Josh King each had an excellent opportunity, which we should have capitalized on."
“We had a few chances near their penalty area, but apart from that one, none of them really posed a threat. As I said, the game was very tight. We started the second half well, and in the last 30 minutes we made some tactical adjustments in hopes of changing the game, but we conceded a goal a few minutes later.”
“The game became more difficult after we conceded a goal. We reacted a bit slowly and ultimately lost a game we shouldn’t have lost, which I’m well aware of. We didn’t have many chances, and the team didn’t perform as well as last week; the difference in level was obvious. Timothy Castagne had a shot that almost equalized, but it was brilliantly saved by the opposing goalkeeper, which also affected the result. It was a disappointing night for us.”
