Salah hopes Anfield will hold a grand farewell ceremony for Henderson.

With the 2025-26 Premier League season drawing to a close, Liverpool is about to face a highly emotional moment in their final match.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah, in an interview with legendary captain Steven Gerrard, publicly appealed for the club and fans to hold a special tribute ceremony for former captain Jordan Henderson's return to Anfield during the match against Brentford on May 24.

This final match will not only be Salah and teammate Andy Robertson's farewell game after nine years with the Reds, but will also witness Henderson, who now plays for Brentford, return to his old club.

Henderson spent 12 years at this stadium, leading the team to Champions League and Premier League titles as captain, but he was unable to say a proper goodbye to the fans when he left in 2023 due to a tight schedule.

Salah said emotionally, "Henderson has been here longer than any of us. He is the soul of the locker room, and we could not have achieved those things without his leadership."

Although he has no concrete plan, Salah firmly believes that as a Liverpool tradition, the meritorious captain deserves a more dignified farewell.

“If you’re not in the dressing room, you might not understand his love and passion for the club,” Salah told Gerrard. “I really hope Anfield can give him some surprises, because that’s how Liverpool treats people.”
