Hoeneß hopes Stuttgart can turn momentum into strength.

Stuttgart will host Union Berlin in the 18th round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season. Head coach Uli Hoeneß stated that he hopes the team can translate their recent momentum into strength.

In the last round of the Bundesliga, Stuttgart defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 3-2 at home, thanks to goals from Demirovic, Ondav, and Nikolas Naltai. With two consecutive wins, Stuttgart currently sits in 5th place in the standings with 32 points.

As for Union Berlin, Baumgart's team drew 1-1 with Augsburg in their last match, and has a record of 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss in the last 5 rounds.

Stuttgart coach Uli Hoeneß said, "Union Berlin has both individual ability and experience. They are very physically strong, have a very compact defensive formation, and are very fast on the counter-attack. Baumgart is an experienced coach who has led the team to a stable performance this season, and it will not be easy to beat them."

In head-to-head records, Stuttgart has a record of 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss in their last 5 matches against Union Berlin.

Hoeneß also stated, "One of the keys to success is undoubtedly finding a balance at different stages of the game, while remaining alert during transitions between attack and defense, and also being good at defending against Union Berlin's set pieces."

“We are delighted to have achieved good results in the new year and to have ended the first half of the season in a positive state. Our goal now is to turn this momentum into energy and motivation for the tough match against Union Berlin at home.”
