Sloth: We still have many goals to strive for in the league.

The 22nd round of the 2025/26 Premier League season will take place, with Liverpool hosting Burnley at Anfield. Manager Sloot stated in a press conference that the team's overall form has improved significantly, and there are still many important goals to achieve in the league.

In their last league match, Liverpool drew 0-0 away to Arsenal, currently sitting in 4th place in the standings with 35 points. Earlier in the FA Cup third round, Liverpool defeated Barnsley 4-1 thanks to goals from Szoboszlai, Frimpong, Wirtz, and Ekittik, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 games.

Liverpool manager Sloot said, "Ideally, it's not about going 11 games unbeaten, but about winning 11 straight games. That should always be our goal. Whether that's realistic or not might be for some teams, like Aston Villa, who had a winning streak. But looking at where we are now, from the point where we conceded our fourth goal against PSV Eindhoven, I think we're in a better position."

"However, we still have a lot of room for improvement. In fact, this room for improvement still existed when we were at the top of the league and the Champions League at the same time last season."

Regarding the situation in the race for Champions League qualification, Slaughter said, "It's a challenge because we're in the Premier League, and we don't see ourselves in the best position, especially compared to after the first six games. The reality is that we're currently competing with these teams for fourth place in the league because Aston Villa have been performing exceptionally well this season. We still have many goals to strive for in the league because qualifying for the Champions League is so important for any club, especially for this one."

"We missed out on qualification two or three years ago, which had a significant financial impact on the club. We are very aware of the importance of Champions League qualification, but it's not just our goal, it's the goal of many teams. At the same time, we also realize that the Premier League is probably more competitive than ever before. Therefore, we must perform at a high enough level in the league, and of course, the FA Cup and the Champions League are also worth fighting for."

Furthermore, Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, are currently 19th in the standings with 13 points and are still facing relegation.

Sloth continued, "We are really looking forward to this game. It's another home game, and a game where we want to prove that we can create more chances when we have a lot of possession. We've been training a lot on that in the past few weeks."
