Diaz insists unity is key to team's performance

Liverpool striker Diaz has spoken about the team's performances this season and insisted that family-like relationships and unity are key factors in Liverpool's excellent results.

Liverpool defeated Lille of Ligue 1 2-1 in the seventh round of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, thanks to goals from Salah and Elliott. After seven consecutive wins, Liverpool is currently ranked first in the standings with 21 points and has secured qualification for the Champions League round of 16.

In the Premier League, Liverpool currently ranks first in the standings with 50 points, 6 points ahead of second-placed Arsenal with one game less, which also means that Sloter's team is still on track to compete for the championship.

"We are very happy and satisfied with our performance this season," said Diaz, 28. "The secret is that we have created a great team and a big family, both on the court and in training. The new coaching staff has played an important role since they joined, which is extremely important."

“For us, I think we’ve been practising what we’ve been doing in training and at the moment we’re top of the Premier League and the Champions League, which is very important for us. It’s really key because it brings a lot of confidence and we’ll keep working in the same way. We have to keep the same motivation because we haven’t won anything yet and there’s still a long journey ahead.”

In addition, Diaz has scored 8 goals in the Premier League this season and contributed 3 goals for Liverpool in the Champions League. Diaz continued, "Achieving my best goal is my goal. Since pre-season training, I have been working hard to improve my shooting ability. This is also my plan, which includes continuous improvement and ensuring that each season is better than the previous one. This has always been my mentality. Whenever a new season comes, I will strive to surpass my previous achievements. So I will keep moving forward, and I believe this year will be better than last year."

"I always focus on my personal goals and try to achieve them. So I feel good, confident and pretty relaxed at the moment. Hopefully we can keep doing this so I can do my part for the team, which I think is the most important thing."
