Nuno Espirito Santo insists success comes more from players than money spent

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has responded to Liverpool manager Arne Slaughter's comments that his team had "thrown money" to achieve success by saying: "Money doesn't play football."

On Tuesday, Forest will host Premier League leaders Liverpool led by Slaughter at home. This crucial battle may determine whether Forest has a chance to join the championship race.

Nuno has led his side to six straight league wins and a win over Liverpool on Tuesday night will reduce the gap to the top of the table to just three points.

Before the game, Sloter expressed his praise for Nuno and Forest, but then added: "If you look at the cost of their spending, it's not a total surprise."

In this regard, Nuno stressed that success comes more from the players rather than the money invested.

"I don't know the exact cost, I don't know the exact amount. It's not important to me," Nuno said.

"I focus on the player as a person and how can I make them better. How can I make you better?"

"Money doesn't play football, people do. That's not my concern, we don't care about the price tag."
